General Further Education (GFE) Learning

GFE courses provide a comprehensive five-day programme including access to mainstream college vocational and academic courses together with teaching at the Deaf Academy of the core curriculum.

Academy Teachers of the Deaf deliver accredited programmes in English and Maths. British Sign Language (BSL), Personal and Social Development and Work-Related Learning are also taught which build on students’ previous achievements.

We offer a full range of academic courses (eg A Levels) and vocational courses (eg BTEC Diplomas) at Partner Colleges with full support from the Academy’s qualified staff, including dedicated Communication Support Workers (CSWs) and personal tutors.

There are lots of different courses available and these are taught at various levels at our Partner Colleges. Traditionally, BTECs and other vocational programmes are taught at Levels 1 – 3 and A Levels are taught at Level 3.
