Key Workers

Each student at the Deaf Academy will have a Key Worker. Where possible, your child can choose who that person is and they can also change them if needed.

Key Workers are responsible for ensuring all aspects of your child’s care needs are effectively met and monitored. They work with students on their Individual Care Plan and their 24 Hour Curriculum. Key Workers liaise with all Academy staff that are involved in their allocated student’s education and care and this includes all involved therapies.

Where necessary, they will also prepare reports (such as your child’s annual review report) for external, as well as internal, professionals. Key Workers are also responsible for ensuring that parents/carers are kept up to date with their child’s daily life as well as any issues that are identified. All Care staff work as a team and as such, your child can speak with any Care staff they feel comfortable with at that time – it doesn’t necessarily have to be their Key Worker.
