24 Hour Curriculum

If your child is a residential student, the Deaf Academy will provide a 24 Hour Curriculum to further support their needs outside of the classroom.

The 24 Hour Curriculum encompasses the Academy’s main aims and transfers them across to the residential provision creating a holistic and personal picture of your child’s progress and development.

It allows the Academy to monitor everyday life skills and set achievable targets whilst recording outcomes and progress.

The 24 Hour Curriculum encompasses 7 key areas; Eating and Drinking, Personal Care, Health and Audiology, Social and Emotional, Money and Travel, Communication, and Extra Curricular. Your child’s development is documented by using a range of methods including observations, photographs and film and is recorded electronically in either filmed British Sign Language (BSL) or written English. This enables the Care Team to work with other professionals across the Academy to provide a high level of care whilst aiding in your child’s personal growth, progress and maturity.
