School Council

At Exeter Deaf Academy, we feel it is important for our students to have the opportunity to share their opinions and views.

We have an elected body of students who form our School Council and they represent the views of all our School students and work together with staff to improve and action any issues at the Academy.

The School Council consists of one elected member from each class in Secondary. To ensure that all views are represented, we also have two members who are in Care during the week; one boy and one girl.

From the nominated candidates, we hold a whole Secondary school election to choose our Chair and Vice-Chair for the year.

Meetings are held once a month during curriculum time but additional meetings are held whenever necessary. The School Council meetings follow the structure of a formal meeting, with apologies, matters arising and Any Other Business (AOB) etc. Our students have targets and actions that are placed on the School Council board.

For a flavour of some of the events and topics our School Council has led and been involved in, scroll through the images below!

We also have a College Council at the Deaf Academy – if you would like to find out more, please click here.
