Drama

At the Academy, we deliver drama to all school students either in weekly lessons or through projects linked to our Theatre in Residence, ‘PaddleBoat’.

We believe that drama encourages our students to be confident and effective communicators, develop an awareness of ‘self’ and through a range of activities become more aware of others, working as a team as well providing a ‘safe’ space to share ideas. It also plays an important part of developing Theory of Mind skills.

During their time at the Academy, most students will have the opportunity to perform to the public and on a professional stage. The result of events such as these help our students to develop a sense of well-being, increased self-esteem and understanding of environments and working practises external to the Academy.

At present, we offer EDUQAS (WJEC) Board GCSE in Drama, which gives students an opportunity to improvise, perform and analysis different aspects of theatre.
