Whilst in the Primary classes the students have one class teacher, who teaches all the curriculum areas. As they move on into Secondary they have a range of teachers that teach a specific curriculum area, which requires them to move from class to class around the school.
In the second half of the summer term year 6 students buddy up with the youngest Secondary class. This gives them security being in a class that has other students in it. After these initial sessions they follow a Secondary timetable for sessions that are very different to Primary, for example science in the science laboratory. The length of time and amount of sessions for the Primary transition is based on the individual needs of each year 6 class.
