The aim was to communicate what it means to be a Deaf teenager in a hearing world; What does being Deaf look like? Or sound like? Or feel like?
Inspired by abstract artwork, they looked at how big ideas and powerful meanings can be found in colours, shapes and brushstrokes - and then turned their own stories into works of art.
The show was initially performed at the Exeter Phoenix, before bringing it to the Academy to show parents, staff and other students.
Paddleboat's artistic director Katy Dash said:
