Actual Salary: £11,511.17 based on a full time equivalent of £18,396.00

Exeter Deaf Academy ("the Academy") is a charity that provides essential specialist education and residential care to Deaf young people.  We are at an exciting time in our history as we build a brand new world-class Deaf Academy in Exmouth, Devon, due to open in April 2020.  This facility will help our amazing Deaf students thrive.  It will break down barriers to Deaf young people, bring communities together and enable families to thrive.

The Academy provides nurturing education and care tailored to the individual needs of Deaf young people.  The sense of belonging to an inspiring bilingual community transforms students as they develop language skills and journey towards independenxe and fulfilling their own potential.

The role will suit someone with a strong work ethic, who would take great pride in seeing how the work improves the lives of our students and is dedicated to providing a first class Catering service across the whole Academy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing and serving the supper menu
  • Complying with catering industry regulations and health & safety standards
  • Assisting in the provision of hospitality
  • Complete the necessary health and hygiene temperature controls in order to be compliant
  • Deputising for Catering Manager in their absence

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a safe manner. 
  • Effective team member.
  • Previous experience within a kitchen environment.
  • British Sign Language qualification or willingness to study towards one.
  • Food hygiene qualification.
  • Minimum of a Level 1 qualification in a Catering related subject.
  • Awareness of food allergies and intolerances.

Terms & Conditions: The position is a permanent contract, term time plus 9 additional days. Exact hours are Monday to Thursday 11am to 6pm with a 30 minute break.  Staff benefits include access to a Group Personal Pension scheme, Life Assurance and free on-site parking.
