Before your child starts attending our Early Years department they will be given a Key Person. The Key Person will assist you in completing an ‘All About Me’ pack highlighting information about your child – their name and personal details, their likes and dislikes, needs, activities, interests and achievements. This information enables you and the Key Person to identify your child's stage of progress. As the Key Person works closely with your family, together you will be able to decide suitable next steps for your child to take
Children entering our Early Years department have usually been assessed from birth by their parents using the ‘Monitoring Protocol for Deaf Babies and Children’. We value parental contribution to assessments as you share important information about your child’s activities at home. We also make regular observations of each child to assess their current level of learning and development. Observations may be written or evidenced through photos and videos. These observations and assessments influence the Early Years planning so we can support each child in taking their next steps.
All your child’s achievements, whilst attending Early Years, will be recorded and are available for parents to look at as they wish.
We also enjoy reading your comments. One mother wrote ‘Loved reading this today’ in response to an entry made about their child’s achievements by the child’s Key Person at our Early Years department.
