Throughout Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 pupils follow the National Curriculum focusing on fluency, reasoning and problem solving throughout. To give our pupils increased confidence and understanding of number, we ensure all pupils develop their skills using a range of activities at all ability levels.
In Key Stage 4 pupils undertake a range of qualifications from GCSE which focuses on both academic and functional skills to Entry level courses which focus on the basic principles of Maths.
In Key Stage 5 pupils continue to develop their Maths skills and many focus on more functional real life Maths that will support them into adulthood. Accreditation ranges from Employability Maths Awards to Functional Skills and GCSE Maths.
As many of our students are working at differing levels an individual plan will be in place in each class to ensure that student’s needs are met and that all of the required topics are covered to enable them to make the progress they are capable of and achieve relevant qualifications.
Mathematical language and literacy skills are continuously taught throughout the key stages encouraging and enabling our pupils to engage in stimulating and exciting discussions about maths and to develop them as independent learners as well as supporting their independent access to the exams/assessment
