How your business can support Exeter Deaf Academy

A Charity of the Year partnership with Exeter Deaf Academy is a great way to inspire and engage your staff as well as helping us raise vital funds and awareness.

Small team? Multinational organisation? Whatever your size – you can make a lasting change to the lives of Deaf young people.

A charity partnership can range from supporting us as a 'charity of the year', holding your own fundraising activities, getting involved with one of our events, spending a day volunteering or simply having an Exeter Deaf Academy collection tin.

The size of our charity means that each corporate partner is very important to us, and we work hard to ensure that partnerships are mutually beneficial and satisfy business needs and objectives alongside fundraising.

If you would like to discuss ways we could work together please call our Fundraising team on 01392 267019 or email

As Princesshay’s Charity of the Year 2016 we raised a fantastic £18,224.79.

Each year the city’s premier shopping destination officially supports a different local charity, helping to raise awareness through fundraising and events and we were delighted to have their support throughout 2016.

Princesshay hosted a range of fundraising events during the year, from a car raffle in partnership with Mercedes-Benz of Exeter, staff taking part in City to Sea, proceeds from the sale of Princesshay honey and sponsoring the Exeter Deaf Academy’s school football kit.

Princesshay Centre Director, Wayne Pearce said: “Exeter Deaf Academy is a local dynamic charity which provides excellent support for the deaf community. This partnership is not just about raising funds but also aims to put a spotlight on the charity, helping raise their profile throughout the year.”

Since 2014, Interserve staff have been fundraising for Exeter Deaf Academy in a huge variety of ways, from a London to Paris cycle ride which raised an incredible £16,000, taking part in Rock Solid, holding dress down days and an office to office cycle.

Interserve were also fantastic at supporting our 2014 BSL Celebration Week campaign with many staff learning to sign their name and recording it to share across social media. In addition Interserve supported the Academy with a small building project that was required on our current site, a real cost saving to the Academy.

It is such an exciting time for everyone involved and we are also excited to be a part of that."

Family Law Company

For the last two years, Family Law Company have held a Charity Skittles Night in aid of Exeter Deaf Academy. Team members paid to take part in the skittles competition and staff generously supported a raffle, with a huge number of prizes being donated in advance of the draw. The events have raised nearly £2,000.

Sainsbury’s Sidwell Street

Exeter Deaf Academy was 2015/16 Charity of the Year for the Sidwell Street, Exeter branch of Sainsbury’s. This partnership raised over £2,500.

Throughout their two years of fundraising, staff from Handelsbanken have dedicated their time and effort and redecorated a kitchen and TV room, in one of the Academy’s student residential areas.

In July 2015, Craig Skinner who works in the Account Manager Support team at Handelsbanken Exeter, took up the challenge of cycling from London to Paris in aid of Exeter Deaf Academy and Street Games, raising £325 for the Academy.

Darren Galliford, Handelsbanken Exeter Branch Manager commented, “We are really excited to help raise awareness of Exeter Deaf Academy and support its New Build Appeal over the coming years. Helping redecorate is just one of the ways we’re keen to be involved. The Appeal is a fantastic cause and we’re very proud to support this local charity.”
